Countdown begins for the HTC HD3

The HTC HD3, which was leaked in March, will be formally revealed to the world on September 15. The beast is likely to have a  1.5 GHz processor and a 4.5 inch  display and will be shown off in London according to our source in the Queen Vic Pub.
The HTC Touch HD, also known as the HTC T828X or its codename the HTC Blackstone, is a Windows Mobile 6.1 -powered luxury Pocket PC designed and manufactured by HTC. Part of the HTC Touch Family, it most notably features a larger, higher-resolution display than those found in most smart-phones available at the time, a 5-megapixel camera, a second front facing camera to enable Videophone functionality, an accelerometer, GPS, FM RDS radio reception, high resolution video recording capability and SD Micro card compatibility (up to 64 GB). It also features quad band GSM and dual band UMTSconnectivity, as well as the proprietary TouchFLO 3D user interface developed by HTC. However, it lacks the left side slide-out keyboard of the HTC Touch Pro.

HTC will use the same event to unveil a new 2.2 running Desire and an Android tablet. The early leaks are proving to be right, our sauce claims. It will still have a 4.5" display, only now it is AMOLED (1200x800).

It will have a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, WiFi, 4G and 32 GB of storage, an 8 MP camera and 2 LED flashes. Word on the street is that it will run Windows Phone 7, and launch first in Down Under.

  3. Engadget is backing my suspicions. No dual core devices this year, at least not from Qualcomm HTC combo. Hope this keeps expectations from getting out of hand. I hate to see everyone let down when a phone releases just due to wild rumors.

  4. Sounds like bogus specs to me. And 4.5″ screen is a total fail. Remember that the point of a phone is its ability to fit in a pocket!

P.S. Doubt I’ll go the WM7 route. I don’t mind webOS or Android 2.2, iOS hesitantly, but WM7 is too little too late.

  5. Other features of this WP7 phone include WiFi and 4G network support, an 8MP camera with dual LED flashes and to boot, this phone is just 10mm in thickness.

  6. Although, today, we have reports that the new device won’t be called the HTC HD3 at all but instead the HTC HD7. While this implies that it’s about 5 generations ahead of the HD2 it’s speculated that it is instead a tribute to its Windows Phone 7 platform. We also have reports that the device will be launching on October 18th which isn’t a terribly long time to wait.

  7. For instance, Windows 7 is great and loved by pretty much everyone, Windows Vista on the other hand everyone hated and Windows XP again, everyone generally loved. However, when it comes to their mobile operating system line up, things get a bit more gritty.

  8. There was one more modern device that runs Windows Mobile that actually turns the otherwise horrid experience into a great one. This device, called the HTC HD2, features a large 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and 576MB or RAM. If you noticed, this phone featuers generally the same specs as the more modern HTC EVO 4G.
